Maintenance Technician - Controls

Department: Maintenance/Teterboro
Location: Teterboro, NJ

Job Summary:  

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide technical support for all process equipment electronics and maintain calibration system.
  • Provide technical support for plant process measurement and controls instrumentation.
  • Responsible for the integrity and maintenance of plant Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) systems
  • Identifies and evaluates process control problems, then develops and implements corrective actions.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance (PM) on control and electrical systems.      
  • Develop continuous improvement ideas relating to safety, environment, quality and cost reduction.
  • Responsible for training of plant personnel relating to process measurement and control systems.
  • Perform moderate to complex electrical installations, troubleshooting and repairs of production, plant and utility systems and/or equipment.
  • Install EMT and ridged conduit, install new and upgrade services, run power supply wiring for machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair production machinery and components such as contactors, relays, starters, VFD's motors, switches and lighting.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision but also with others in a team environment. 
  • Respond to Fire, burglar and BMS alarms.

There is 1st and 2nd shift available.

  

Education and Experience:

  • 5 10 years plant experience in instrumentation, PLC & Electrical required.
  • Min. 2 years work experience executing work tasks in a P.M. Program.
  • Must have a good mechanical aptitude and have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have good working knowledge of ladder logic and similar software languages but preferably would be proficient in writing/modifying it. 
  • Black Seal license for the operation of low and high-pressure boilers is a plus.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment (i.e. pumps, mixers, etc.), minor electrical trouble-shooting, pipe fitting, plumbing, copper work, welding and basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of welding, HVAC systems and lean principles a plus.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
