Pricing & Financial Analyst

Department: Fragrance/Creative
Location: Rockleigh, NJ

Job Summary: Reporting to the Senior Vice President & General Manger, Fragrance (SVPGM) and under the direct supervision of the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis, the Pricing & Financial Analyst is responsible for the review and analysis of the pricing and profitability of existing products, and new formulations, including J-sax controls around changing pricing. This position will also include supporting the SVPGM by preparing month end reporting and analysis, interpreting business results, analyzing business transactions, sales relationships, review of divisional costs, and the identification of cost savings opportunities. Additionally, this role will assist with the preparation of the annual operating budgets, the periodic forecasting and the three-year strategic plans.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Pricing

  • Streamline the pricing process through utilizing pricing tools, and decrease turnaround time for pricing request approvals
  • Analyze pricing requests to assist the SVPGM in developing a pricing strategy that will ensure all costs relating to the sale are recouped and at the same time, lead to revenue growth for the organization
  • Conduct market analysis as necessary to determine pricing behavior of competitors
  • Monitor costing changes and develop sensitivity analysis thresholds to provide reporting on potential changes to pricing
  • Maintain knowledge and stay abreast of developments in the industry via information obtained from financial publications, services, and internal company sources
  • Ensure all J-sox controls around pricing and price changes are performed and documented

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly written analysis of the Fragrance Divisional results with a focus on sales, explaining all major variances to budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist with the preparation of sales profitability analysis by product line and customer and report on trends.
  • Analyze cost center reports highlighting variances to the budget and provide explanations for the variances to Senior Management. 
  • Meet regularly with SVPGM to review financial results and discuss current business unit issues
  • Help develop key financial and business matrices

Planning

  • Assist the Manager of FP&A in preparing Fragranceís quarterly forecast 
  • Assist the Manager of FP&A in preparing Fragranceís annual budget. 
  • Assist the Manager of FP&A in preparing the Fragrance Divisionís Strategic (3 and 5 year) financial plans for use in the TAKUSís strategic business development and impairment analysis

Analysis

  • Participate in the review of the Fragrance P&L, including sales & cost of sales, manufacturing expenses, and operating expenses for accuracy. Recommend changes and corrections to the Manager of FP&A or the Controller
  • Prepare written analysis of the monthly financial results vs. budget and forecast to accompany the monthly financial reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation of the financial executive summaries for monthly management meetings and corporate officer meetings.
Qualifications
  • Bachelorís degree in Accounting, Finance, Operations, Research, Statistics, Math, Economics or related analytical discipline.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a similar role analyzing data, program metrics, and performance
  • Experience in Flavors & Fragrance industry or public accounting is a plus
  • Exposure to SAP FI/CO is a strong plus.
  • Requires strong computer skills in MS Excel, MS word and MS PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels across the organization.
