VP, CIMR - Fragrance

Department: Global CIMR Fragrance
Location: Rockleigh, NJ

Job Summary: Develops and facilitates the management and decision-making initiatives on global, strategic and tactical Consumer Insight & Market Research activities for the Fragrance Division to enhance short- and long – term performance and market share gains.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Plans and executes global sensory, consumer and marketing research activities with a unified corporate approach utilizing well-designed, well-executed, and properly analyzed market data.
  • Directly manages CIMR staff in the various Takasago Creative Centers. Coordinates resources to ensure Takasago has competitive products and technology aligned with global and/or regional strategies.
  • Develops and delivers innovative strategies based on market evidence and testing; Utilizes Takasago’s capabilities & technologies to drive success.
  • Effectively communicates & collaborates with regional teams (Marketing, Commercial, R&D & Creative) to improve strategy and execution of key projects. Ensures alignment with other key stakeholders 
  • Liaison with Sales and the CFG (Creative Fragrance Group) to secure a commercial focus on all CIMR activities. 
  • Establishes and manages global CIMR standards for a unified corporate approach aligned with global objectives. 
  • Initiates and identifies issues, suggests approaches and develop solutions to effectively lead and manage completion of projects involving global CIMR group. 
  • Manages qualitative research endeavors (e.g., brainstorming, ideation, etc.) in order to assists the perfumers in creating winning fragrances by identifying interests and desires of target consumer groups. 
  • Generates value-added insights utilizing state-of-the-art CIMR methodologies, research and panels results to enable and influence strategic and tactical decision-making.
  • Prepares and presents results of data analysis in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences and levels, including customers, senior management, creative, marketing, and commercial areas.
  • Oversees statistical functions and report writing. Directs the study and questionnaire designs modules to accurately capture salient interpretive data. 
  • Manages external MR Agencies, Statisticians, and University Research activities. 
  • Provides CIMR support to Marketing and R&D endeavors, with an emphasis on “technology validation” for IP development. 
  • Establishes and manages a highly flexible, automated data entry system for CIMR. Establishes and manages a database of research findings for CIMR. 
  • Effectively manages the global CIMR “Virtual Department” communicating and motivating via written electronic media. Guide and mentor the global CIMR staff. 
  • Manages CIMR budget for TAKUS; oversee other Creative Center CIMR budgets.

Position Qualifications

  • MBA in Marketing or Ph.D. in the Social Sciences (e.g., Experimental Psychology).
  • Eight (8)+ years experience in Sensory Science and Marketing. 
  • Four (4) years experience in Global/International Marketing Research. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in applied experimental design and advanced statistical techniques.
