Process/Project Engineer

Department: FL Manufacturing - Prod Admin
Location: Teterboro, NJ, United States

Essential Job Functions:

  • Be a positive safety influence on the facility; review all designs for safe operation. Take an active role in plant safety by way of safe equipment/process design, following safety procedures/policies (i.e. PSM, LOTO, etc.) and taking part in safety studies (i.e. PHAs, JSAs, Root Cause Analysis, etc.).
  • Identify and implement efficiency projects to achieve corporate environmental goals.
  • Provide technical guidance/assistance to Production, Maintenance, Management, SH&E Manager, Creative, and QC/QA.
  • Assist in troubleshooting quality non-conformances, production issues, and other process issues.
  • Evaluate and implement engineering, continuous improvement, and facility projects.
  • Designing and possibly overseeing the acquisition and/ or start-up of new equipment and/or processes as well as provide training.
  • Assist in planning and installation of larger scale projects.
  • Work with all levels of the organization to optimize plant processes. Collaborate and assist in data analysis to identify process shortfalls and develop improvement plans and projects.

Level of Independence: High level of independence. Moderate level of input from others (i.e. Production, Maintenance, upper management, Creative, R&D, Sales Customer Service)


  • Minimum B.S. in engineering discipline.
  • 5 years engineering experience in a plant environment, preferably in the food or pharmaceutical industry. Experience with both Process improvements and Project Management.
  • Knowledge of liquid mixing, solids mixing, spray drying, extractions, separations, distillation, heat exchange, reactions, pumps, etc. desired.
  • Exposure to and an active role taken in safety and safety methodology (i.e. PHAs, JSAs, Root Cause Analysis, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Lean/Continuous Improvement concepts a plus.
