Account Manager

Department: Sales Fragrance Household
Location: Crystal Lake, IL, United States

Job Summary: The Account Manager is responsible for business development by winning briefs and increasing business with selected clients. Builds and maintains existing business relations with clients and collaborates with creative and technical teams. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Increase existing business with accounts assigned by Takasago Midwest office.
  • Responsible for selected sales accounts; Ensures TAKUS wins briefs through efficient Project Management - Proactive and Reactive. 
  • Manages projects for clients including sales/forecasting/tracking monthly goals. 
  • Accountable for preparing sales budget and review on monthly basis to maintain accuracy of sales forecast figures and expenses management.
  • Secures briefs, leads internal meetings, and defines project strategy and scope to execute project action plans aimed at improving probability of success.
  • Partner with creative teams to develop innovative ideas, new technologies experiential touch points based on brief requirements.
  • Ensures optimal use of creative resources for timely completion of projects
  • Develop project strategy and action plans aligned with principles, knowledge of customers’ strategic priorities and preferences, awareness of market trends and competitors’ movements.
  • Set proper working cost and selling prices according to corporate’s guiding gross margin, engage in negotiation on prices to achieve required gross margin, otherwise to gain management approval.
  • Evaluate and decide on fragrance submission, follow up and take actions on customer feedback.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to customers.
  • Required travel to customer location, Rockleigh creative center and other locations to manage business. 
  • Contributes to requests including key deliverables such as RFP, core list strategy building and key initiatives that result in enhanced efficiency, whether operational or commercial.
  • Working together with Takasago marketing and R&D to develop technical platform “story telling”.  Enhancing the client/consumer reason to believe.
  • New Business Development by providing customers with fragrance centric business solutions and growth strategies.
  • Partner with creative teams on brand stewardship models for clients. Helping to deliver inspiring presentations and scent-driven proposals with brand relevancy.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Business Administration, Marketing or Chemistry preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of sales or account management experience, comprising of sales activities, negotiation and/or project management activities 
  • 1-2 years’ experience within the fragrance or specialty industry, dealing with sales, evaluation, marketing, and/or consumer insight is preferred.
  • Knowledge of fragrance and olfactive evaluation skills is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, customer focus and orientation, strong interpersonal, and exceptional verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast paced, interactive environment.
  • Must have strong presentation skills, be a good collaborator with leadership qualities, possess the ability to identify emerging trends, have perspective and insight into consumer behavior, and utilize these skills to translate into innovative ideas and proposals for a given product, category and and/or brand.
  • Requires computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
