Sr. Traffic Coordinator

Position Summary
With safety, customer service, accuracy, efficiency, and logistics cost as a priority, the Logistics Coordinator is responsible to facilitate the transportation planning and document preparation for domestic and international shipping of raw materials and finished goods, effectively ensuring the timely delivery of orders to fulfill customer requirements.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Transportation planning duties include:
  • Handle all aspects of domestic transportation and prepare necessary documentation to ensure timely shipment and delivery of goods
  • Coordinate and communicate with freight forwarders and 3rd Party Logistics Partners to facilitate overseas transportation of freight and streamline customs clearance
  • Build strong relationships with carrier partners and negotiate to balance service and cost
  • Analyze, develop, and maintain strategic KPIs for measuring logistics performance 
  • Prepare freight rate quotes and respond to inquiries from commercial team, etc. regarding logistics costs & service
  • Track and Trace shipments, as necessary, manually and using systems, to confirm adherence to requested delivery dates and service agreements
  • Provide shipping documents and logistics information to Finance during inquiries and audits
  • Ensure internal, external, and governmental regulatory & safety compliance for all transportation moves
  • Offer proactive suggestions to improve processes, drive continuous supply chain improvements, and reduce costs
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with those on your team, as well as cross-functionally
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Traffic regarding specific carrier and strategic customer requirements as it relates to supporting transportation/logistics functions (ex. delivery specifications, documentation & planning requirements, best practices, etc.)
  • First escalation point for more complex Traffic related challenges such as: carrier relations; damage/claim response; strategic inquiries from Order Management, Purchasing, and Commercial Teams
  • Support new team members by assisting with training

Position Qualifications:

  • College degree in business, supply chain or related preferred. 
  • 5+ Years Logistics/Transportation Planning experience, preferably in a chemical or related field
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products, SAP experience preferred. 
  • Must have strong communication skills, manage multiple tasks, and work well under pressure and strict time constraints
  • Hazardous material certification preferred. Understanding of DOT, IMO and IATA regulations
